Check out my new favourite hat shop MAD HATTER on Stephen St Dublin
2 - ph 4054936 (just up fomr Vivian Walsh Jewellery shop)
Ask for Maeve or Nessa - and they will show you some amazing 50's
inspired hats - with some gems made especially for them by a designer
in Paris.
I thought this was just a run of the mill millinery shop - but
be prepared to be very pleasently surprised.

Custom Fedora Makers:
http://www.shopniagara.net/custom_hatter/hatter.html
This is a serious hat mans site. This fellow made the fedoras for the Indiana Jones movies etc. They cost around $350 for a custom job! A snip at twice the price I say! It's a real mom & pop business going for years, so the site is kind of low tech. But the brims are stylish all the way from Buffalo NY!
Lifestyle discussion
www.thefedoralounge.com
A specialist site for blokes, babes & dames to discuss the finer points of period attire. Be warned a registered email address is needed to dive into the forums. But the diverse and interesting reading makes it worthwhile. But browsing as always is free.
Many thanks to Tadhg pictured in 101st Airborne
uniform below.
He sent us all his info on military and retro style.
Go crazy! At least you know you have somewhere to wear it now!!
Logic like that can justify any
buy..... x

Not always the cheapest, but excellent
for mail order.
Very little reproduction but Ken Lewis
is an absolute gentleman and will
NEVER sell you rubbish so he
can be trusted.
www.1944airborne.com
These guys can be cheap and sell
a lot of reproduction but be very careful, sometimes their stuff
isn't up to scratch. Still, if you know what you're doing
you can bag yourself a bargain, especially for boots, shirts and
trousers. Excellent for insignia!
www.fngsupplies.com
Mostly original GI gear, excellent for cheap wool overcoats (which
are ex-French Army so you'll have to change the buttons).
www.blunderbuss-antiques.co.uk
They were flogging off a lot of Band Of Brothers props, so worth
a look.
www.wwiiimpressions.com
Reproduction uniforms made in California. Quite expensive,
but their jump-suits are the best.
www.atthefront.com
Highly recommended! If you never buy anything then still check
out this site. The guy that owns it is hilarious in his treatment
of pedants.
www.motion-picture-props.com
Great for overseas caps, shirts and trousers.
www.warhorsetradingpost.com
I've seen their reproduction Class A uniforms and they are first
rate. Well worth a look if you're serious. They also
do Navy uniforms for the Officer And A Gentleman / Hooray! The
Stripper's Arrived! scenario... And for retro civvies...
www.americanvintageclassics.com
Rico, the owner, is an absolute star. Well worth a look!
www.zootsuitstore.com
Good for shoes, hats, and of course zoot suits. They might
even custom tailor something for you but I have yet to put this
to the test...

have stood me well
